The North Carolina Beta alumni leadership has partnered with SigEp National Housing LLC (SENH) and engaged the services of HagerSmith Design PA, an architecture and planning firm, to develop a plan for their chapter house in the new Greek Village at North Carolina State University. They secured a prime lot, one of the few that slopes off to the rear and allows a walkout lower level. Following a capital fundraising campaign, the following improvements were planned:
Brotherhood Gathering
-
The dining/gathering area will seat up to 140 brothers and guests and spills out onto a large, landscaped patio to the rear.
-
For formal gatherings, the chapter room and dedicated alumni meeting room are featured on the main level.
-
Also on the main level is the game room and parlor located just off the main entry with direct access to the front porch.
-
The classic brick house will be approximately 15,500 square feet and home to 41 brothers in 18 double- and five single- occupancy rooms.
-
A commercial-grade kitchen will be installed on the lower level to allow SigEp to feature a full meal plan, and the nearby covered side porch will be a great place for outdoor cooking.
-
Dedicated study and classroom space is provided on the lower level for study groups and Balanced Man programming.
-
Full integration into the university’s data network provides reliable and fast Internet access.
-
Convenient parking is provided for the brothers in a common parking lot to the rear of the house.
Safety and Security
-
A modern and competitive resident advisor apartment will attract a well-qualified professional to provide security and ensure the house is maintained properly.
-
Our new home will be fully accessible and compliant with all Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.
-
Security card access and a layout that naturally segregates and secures the bedrooms from the public spaces will ensure the safety of the property and the brotherhood.
-
The entire house will be protected with fire sprinklers and a comprehensive fire alarm system.
-
Increased insulation for the building envelope and high-efficiency HVAC equipment will maintain reasonable operating costs and a comfortable living environment.
