Since 1857, the brothers of Vanderbilt University’s Nu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity have called 2500 Kensington Place home. However, in January 2012, the University banned the use of the house for residential purposes due to its physical deterioration. The alumni and undergraduate leadership responded by developing a capital fundraising campaign to address the long-term viability of Tennessee Nu and provide an environment to facilitate achievement.
Objectives of the renovation:
-
Preserve the existing historic building
-
Update all building systems and make the existing structure more energy efficient
-
Replace adjunct building with a larger multi-purpose structure with dining room, kitchen, and restrooms.
-
Landscaping in the rear of the property
-
Extension of front porches to connect them together.
