The chapter’s return to the University of California, Davis, in 2011, caused many alumni to take notice of the aging facility. A financial and structural assessment of the facility determined that the foundation was not sound and needed significant repair, the electrical and plumbing was outdated, the bathrooms and showers were substandard and needed replacing, and energy consumption was excessive due to lack of insulation. A renovation was not an option due to the various problems with the current house. Therefore, the Alumni Association voted to build a new chapter house. The 19 man chapter house would cost nearly $1.3 million to build, and a fraternity capital campaign was needed to provide:
