Built in 1971, 19 Greek Circle has been a part of the Gamma Phi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta’s legacy at Texas Tech University for more than 40 years. Now they must make a major investment in the lodge in order to remain competitive among the other sorority chapters on the Texas Tech campus, provide a quality meeting and study environment for all members, and support their collegiate sisters. Through a capital fundraising campaign, improvements include:
-
Add 9,345 square feet to the lodge with a first floor addition and a new second floor with elevator access to all floors
-
Create a grand foyer and staircase to welcome members into the lodge
-
Accommodate membership and program requirements with a larger chapter room
-
Enlarge kitchen to be more accessible with modernized appliances to support group meals and events
-
Increase and modernize lodge bathrooms to accommodate growing number of members and guests
-
Enhance storage for archival, recruitment, and ritual materials
-
Provide ample study space, including areas for individual and group study
-
Replace the heating and air-conditioning system for greater efficiency and temperature regulation
-
Address mandatory life-safety issues with sprinklers, fire-rated doors, and full compliance with code specifications
