For more than 80 years, the Oklahoma Chapter of Delta Upsilon has played an integral role in the Greek experience at the University of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Delta Upsilon Corporation, in conjunction with Krittenbrink Architecture, created a conceptual plan to address Delta Upsilon’s need for a system upgrade and an update of the common and student living spaces. Through studying other fraternity projects and trends in campus housing, they evaluated the needs and desires of today’s undergraduates and alumni. The result is a detailed, well-planned project that will address all immediate and critical issues with their facility, as well as provide the chapter with an attractive, safe and competitive home in which to operate. Through this extensive capital campaign and fraternity fundraising initiative, they were able to make the following upgrades and improvements:
-
Updated facade and patio and yard area, including space for outdoor living, dining, grills, and tables
-
Main floor redesign that incorporates additional study and social spaces
-
Redesigned kitchen with a walk-through service line and a night lockdown feature
-
Additional seating in the dining area to accommodate all chapter house members
-
With modern student living in mind, the sleeping areas include a group study center in the living suite and mini-split HVAC unit to allow individual room thermostat control
-
The installation of a fire suppression system to provide sprinkler coverage throughout the house as well as a new stair tower for additional egress
-
Parking for 65 vehicles
