The Alpha Theta Delta Alumni Building Association for Chi Psi at the University of Washington has worked diligently to put together a strong financial plan to complete the annex project and ensure the financial stability of the Alpha in the future. With a new relationship with Fortune Bank, the Building Association will be able to accomplish the goals of the project, as well as the long-term goal of becoming a significant financially viable entity with zero debt. Dave Nordfors ’59 and Rodger Benson ’73 of Mortenson Construction have volunteered their services to the corporation for the annex initial design and construction cost estimate. Thanks to a successful fraternity fundraising campaign and high fraternity engagement, the following improvements will be accomplished:
-
Address mandatory life-safety issues with sprinklers, fire-rated doors, and be in full compliance with code specifications
-
Meet the needs and wants of today’s students by providing private, single-occupancy rooms
-
Provide ample study space in each bedroom, as well as wireless Internet access throughout the facility
-
Retain rental income just over $110,000 within the Alpha to accomplish goals such as updating the Lodge, creating a scholarship fund, and keeping the Lodge bill competitive with other fraternities
-
Maximize use of the property by installing a multi-use sport court that will be easily accessible from the annex and the Lodge
-
Create a strong sense of brotherhood by providing a facility where all of our target membership can reside at the Lodge
